After losing another job, Bud Steele, a Hollywood sound man living vicariously through 80’s films, is assigned to a special case: record sound effects with the LAPD for an upcoming action movie. Bud convinces his reluctant ride-along police officer Jackson McKee to go “off the record” and solve the suspicious death of Jackson’s former partner Hugo Sanchez. Despite the Captain’s orders to stay off the case, the unlikely duo uncover a conspiracy to destroy downtown Los Angeles and take it upon themselves to save the city.
